The Izzo's aren't the actual land owners? Wow, never heard that one before. You really do have inside info Gary.

You're right. Money talks. If a developer wants the land more than someone that wants the track, it be gone, like Santa Fe. Crown Point, Etc.

No one said Tony Jr. Owned the Track or land. I believe it was assumed the Izzo's own it though.

You're probably correct. Speculation as to what would bring the place back to life as a racetrack is the overriding theme of the conversation.

As it is with all racetracks it would be a sad shame if La Salle Speedway was razed and built over. Hopefully there will be abundant opportunity for racing to once again take place.

Tony does not own the track; his mom does.

Tony Izzo Jr. does not own the property that the race track is located on. Tony Izzo's mother, Carrie, owns it. She obtained it through divorce proceedings from her former husband Tony Izzo Sr. Unfortunately, as things had gotten bitter in the divorce, there was a restraining order put on Izzo Sr. from preventing him from being on the LaSalle race track property as well as any other race track that was promoted by Tony Jr such as Wilmot and Sycamore. I have known the Izzo family for a very long time. It is really too bad that this all had to happen. The track prep equipment had been for sale for the last couple of years, so this was not a surprise of the track shutting down. From what I have heard Carrie Izzo was using her money to keep the place going and decided it was time to pull the plug. Like I said I have known the Izzo family for a very long time. I had raced at Santa Fe Speedway back in the 70's and saw Carrie's and Tony SR.'s kids grow up there, Tony Jr., Joey and Carrie Ann. Carrie also had a son from a previous marriage but he was not involved in the racing end of it, I think he was in the legal field.

The entire situation is just sad. Spent many hours in the pits working on cars, parking lot - drinking cold ones and camping with great race fans. Seems as if only a dream at this point but it sure would be nice to have LaSalle back as it once was. Geez, do I miss both Princeton and LaSalle.
