now the guy that lost 3 spots gets the same points as the
one that did not lose or gain a spot.

    Really FAIR.
Imagine the bitching if the alternate of losing points was actually in the format.

Sure, one might tear up a car in a heat race trying to make the show, but the same thing can happen in qualifying. Also, if you mess up in qualifying, you can dig yourself into a hole similar to what might happen in multiple passing point heat races. Racing should be about who accomplished the most RACING with other cars on the track. Not who can qualify well out there by themselves and then run off ahead of the pack and hide.
Totally agree. There are no more wrecks in passing point formats than the freight-train formats.

His 18 hour long road trip to fix his car is on him.
USMTS provides the best "racing" of any series out there.

Boom hit every thing on the track this weekend except for the pace car. He was never close enough to the pace car to crash it.

Yes, poor JD lost a dozen 4M fans by speaking out on something he disagrees with.
Now, he hates the fans and is just like Clanton and Moyer?
Sounds about right...we must be at a 4M convention.
Don't tick these 4m'ers off JD, they'll have you lynched by the end of the week. 🙃

No matter what format it was, good or bad, all the other top drivers managed to make the main. Some struggled and made it through consi's, but everyone you figured to make the race made it. The only exception was JD (and maybe Moyer and Fergy). It makes me think of Harry Hogge..."theres 32 other GD vultures that manage to finish the race on their tires!"....Sometimes things don't go your way, but you race till the end...you go down swinging. Back when our sport was in its heyday and 200+ cars showed up at places like the world there was always "big dogs" who didn't make the show. This isn't NASCAR and that's one of the reasons dirt LM racing is so popular, nothing is given, there are no handouts and you have to earn your keep.

It is what it is...everyone has an opinion and there's nothing wrong with that.

The weather looks great for Fri/Sat in Florence. Hopefully, they'll get a car count north of 60 and put on a great show!

                    He doesn't lol.
He has never turned a single fan away in the pits and is one of the friendliest guys you'll meet.
Most everyone already knows that, though.

I can't believe that people can make a 10 page rant just because a team
                      left a race early.

It seems like it's all 0 fans that are making such a big deal out of it.

If you don't like a driver, you should be happy to see him not race.

Like fastford said, JD probably gives 0% what we think.

Passing points is a killer if the track conditions go one lane and locked down. Sometimes this happens and it puts some of the best racers out of making the feature. Thus the provisional concept comes to the rescue for a few.

IMO open they need to give more points for passing if they really wanna call it “passing points”

Passing points and draw/redraw are what we have here in Iowa for specials and they make for the best races. A racer isn't a racer if they can't pass cars.

all these different formats is what makes dirt racing unique to a great extent , especially for the traveling team , i like them all ......

Seems like the passing points format for heat races helps to widen out the track to create more racing grooves for the features, whereas time trial qualifying often results in more one lane tracks come feature time.
