I would guess car counts are dropping due to people not having half a million in disposable income.

At Cedar Lake when Boom Briggs criticized passing points he was booed by a large portion of the crowd.
Since its working out so well for them wanna be real race fans, I think that they out to start throwing debris caution flags for a Kleenex or hot wrapper on the track and have at least 6 or 7 green white attempts for a checkered flag during at least 5 stages !!!

So you're rather start the fastest car at the front and watch him drive away from the field?

Isn't that the reason racers even unload?

If you don't wanna win every event of the night, why go?

mcarter815, it's a lost cause in the south. Grew up with the inverts (in Iowa), moved south and everything is heads up. Everyone wants 'fair' instead of trying to entertain, crowds are at an all time low (some of that can't be helped, to many other things a person can spend their money on). I see you are from Marion, always liked Fred Horn!

A lot of racers go knowing they have a slim chance of winning. Some may get that one win..... some may never win. But they still come every week because it’s engrained into there DNA.

If racers stop coming because they couldn’t win. Every track in the country would be closed.

                    The subject is passing points!

Ive seen racers win their heat, like theyre supposed to, and receive less points because someone passed more cars. The winner of a heat should always get maximum points!

Yes, but that person had to come from 6th to 8th to get more points. It’s PASSING points after all.

The next round that heat winner has a chance to even the score by coming from the back.

Qualifying resulted in guys starting up front that were in the way last night at Florence.

So, now some of you want to reward passing more than winning?

I hear Nascar calling your name!

Drivers hate double heats not the passing points. Question is there a way to run passing point heats with one set of heats? Probably not.

The better way around it may be to have a payout for the heats. Then invert the whole field so the fastest cars are in the back. With the payout for heats you'll still get good racing and teams won't be mad that they had to bang up their equipment.

The best way is to probably do what Fairbury does. That seems like a slick deal and everyone is happy. I would love to see 4 or 5 features as opposed to 12 heat races where I just see cars going around in a circle and have no idea who has how many points and who needs what to get locked into the show.

That's why you run two sets of heats, with the second one being a full invert of the first. Then once you have the A-Main set, do an invert of the top 8-12 of the A-Main.

I've driven in passing points races where the top three in each heat get a payout. It doesn't happen in all passing points races, but I like the added incentive.
