The sex trafficking thing may depend on the area. It's not the vast majority of prostitution in all areas. In Kentucky for example, the stats do not indicate that prostitutes are being forced to do it against their will.

Best thing to do is legalize prostitution and that way the prostitutes would have to have a license, regular medical checkups and pay taxes. Then the police could go after one's that are not licensed. You probably would have less rapes and less trafficking with prostitution being legalized.
