It should be a real concern......Here is the Mid-Atlantic region, most tracks are really struggling with car counts for the weekly shows. Tracks like Potomac, Delaware International, Georgetown etc barely get 10 Super Late models anymore on a weekly basis. Even the" healthy" tracks like Port Royal, Selinsgrove, Winchester, and Hagerstown etc rarely have a FULL 24 car field. The special races seem fine with both car counts and fans in the stands, but something needs to be done......What?, I don't really know, but the sport we all love is dying a slow death right in front of our eyes.

Out of those 10-12 we get for super races only half are actually supers. Rest of the field is limiteds or crates. The limiteds I understand since they're usually not on the schedule the nights supers run, and a couple are pretty good drivers, but crates run just about every week. They'd be lapped cars in a crate feature too but instead cause cautions all night with the supers.

Thats so true jlacey, basically its the haves and have nots, They let the limited and crates run with them to say we got 10 or 12, if you average 5, why bother.
And quit talking negative, the world 100 was a huge success. who cares about your regional drivers, this forum is for Pierce, Bloomquist, Owens, Davenport and new bandwagon Madden fans. thats it.

I guess it depends on what a late model is. There’s probably as many as ever but they are divided into 2 or 3 classes nowadays. I am just hoping limited doesn’t die off. I don’t want to run crates and I can’t afford to travel to run Supers.

Here in the mid Atlantic and the Carolinas a limited is steel block stock valve angle and depending on exactly where you are limited cubic inches. At Hagerstown/ Winchester it’s 358, in North Carolina it’s 365. Dry sump is okay, titanium valves are okay,aluminum heads are okay if you bolt weight in front of the motor plate. Crates are 604 Chevy motors, you can run a 602 but nobody does motors. Sealed engines. Crates typically get a weight break in limited or super races. Limiteds can’t run crate but usually don’t get a weight break in Super races. I took my limited home to Michigan last month and ran Super, because they don’t have a limited class out there.

A CT525 Motor is usually legal in limited but not Crate. If you wanted to know why I would rather run limited it’s because I build my own motors. I really enjoy that part of it. I don’t particularly want to go drag racing. I would probably move to modified if late models went exclusively crate around here.
