The late lamented Saugus Speedway in southern California used to run 2 classes,LMS & Hobbies. The LMS used to regularly get nearly 60 cars. They all qualified and the fastest 20 made the main, the next 20 made the semi with no transfers to the main. Every one else went home.
Hobbies got 30 or 40, same deal.
The dead flat 1/3 paved track had good looking cars, incredible racing and put a capacity crowd of just over 6,000 in the seats every Saturday night. That's back before the back gate promoting stuff existed.

Wisconsin racing is under rated in my opinion by those that haven’t seen it. That old video reminds me of the enthusiasm and good crowds that used to be prevalent at races 40 years ago. Thanks Krooser.

I visted Saugus a couple times during the early 70's... good crowds and car counts. The TV industry used to film most of their "racing" scenes there.
