So why in the fuk even bother winning the heat? Old format with passing points, and whatever else. Because he qualified mid pack, he was boned. He got the pole of a heat which was not what you wanted in hindsight evidently.

We run this format up here with the SLMR series. I think Port Royal runs it for the weekly stuff.

This type of format puts way more emphasis on qualifying than racing. I’ve seen guys win heats from the front row and be the last car in making it through the heats. That’s just with 4 heats total. With 6 heats guys Bloomer and O’Neal are screwed before they even hit the track. If you don’t make the invert, might as well load up.

For those that are confused by double heat passing points. IMO, this format is 10x more confusing.

This is the dumbest thing fing ever, I thought they announced going back to the old way, it would have been better off to run double heats, at least people get to see more racing if they are going to screw drivers anyway. Personally I am sick of this liberal a$$ passing points crap, why can’t one race be straight up no inverts and whoever is on their game gets to win a dang race!

I believe the idea is to keep guys from sandbagging in qualifying and trying to get a front row starting spot in a heat race, win the heat and be sitting pretty for the feature. Unfortunately they’re putting way too much emphasis on qualifying well and passing a couple cars in the heat race. If they want to keep guys from peddling it in qualifying to try play the starting spot guessing game, just draw for the invert after qualifying.
