Drivers racing on both pavement and dirt used to be somewhat commonplace and it seems to be regaining popularity

I try and watch the short track pavement races on Mav TV but I usually end up on my laptop or phone reading about dirt races. Most I have watched are boring wreck fest or at least that's how I perceive them. I guess I need to attend one in person.

Yeah asphalt racing sucks and trying to leach off the successes of dirt racing. If they want to send drivers over to get smoked, bring it on.

You are missing some good racing. Go see one of these big asphalt super late model races, watch Pollard and Nasse and others, and you will see some great drivers and great races. And they are certainly not leaching off the successes of dirt racing. The are tried and true asphalt guys that decided to go dirt racing for one reason or another, and we should be happy to see it. And it they were leaching, as you say, what is Marlar now doing, and what about Friesen? My hat is off to any that can cross over and have success. Better for racing on all surfaces.

dirt requires way more driver inputs... to me winning on dirt will always out weigh asphalt racing.
