I have to agree, the "areo" late model looks pathetic! 2020, might be lucky to get 25 cars at a big show at some places. Small buget guys have NO chance, so why even try? Go buy a boat and have some fun.Comment

When I was a kid Santa Fe was a place of reverence for drivers from our area. That and Soldier Field.I hate time trials.Comment

I used to go to Sante Fe to help crew when our locals went down... back then the Chicago guys were the only one's dressed in black. Some of those guys were down right intimidating... looking back on all that I have to laugh.Member of the Luxemburg Speedway Hall of Fame

What time frame was this? Dad started taking us there after O'Hare closed. Was a weekly reg from then till they closed. Heard the pits could get pretty rough, and that if a team needed a part, they'd go out to the parking lot and find it?Originally posted by Krooser View PostComment

I remember my dad was going to go to Sante Fe (late 70's, early 80's). Joe Merryfield was pitted next to us and talking about it, told my dad to be careful. Joe said he went one time (they said his wheels where illegal but sold him some so he could race), he then won the main- they acted like he was not even there (trophy went straight to second). When he asked what was up they knocked out the headlights of his tow vehicle...needless to say we stayed in Iowa.Comment
