Is this basically a CJ Rayburn chassis that Rusty is now continuing to build on his own?

Rayburn or no rayburn crate or super. Doesn't matter to put a new car together and go out and win on the first night says alot about rusty and it's good for the sport

Rayburn is a stubborn, old coot. But, he was one of the early adopters of a purpose built tube chassis for dirt and the only one still around.

Rusty goes and wins first night out? I'm pretty sure he's building something close to what he's been running. That's what people do when they start building cars.

Rayburn bought the real 1st tube chassis, the guy that built the 1st one, arguably, was Glen something. Maybe some of the old Timers remember. Guy shows up at Queen City i believe, was like 500 lbs lighter, and smokes the field. Rayburn bought the car, car had an all aluminum big block Ford in it, which was unheard of back then. That's the story that was told to me, by someone who was there, or what i can remember.

Full tube, meaning no clip, or stock type frame in any area.

I have watched Rusty win in everything ....from Lazer, Rayburn,Rocket, and now his own design it's very impressive to win over 200 features plus in his career and he has a lot of years left in him.

im pretty sure it was a holman moody 427 fe , the old man that helped me get started knew about it and also had one , he was friends with cj but never mentioned anything about cj buying the car , but there was a lot of funny business went on back then....

Yeah that must of been something to see, back then. I wish i was involved in racing back in them days, was just to young.

If i see the guy that told me the story, and was there, i will ask him to clarify it. Interesting thou, Rayburn and Bob Glidden were really good friends, Bob just liked Drag racing. There were some good stories about Rayburn and Glidden building cars, i remember he told me that they built one car in a basement in Norwood Ohio, and had to bust down a wall to get the car out to go race it LOL.

Anyway, Rusty Schlenk, he is a wheel man IMHO. He gets it done, i hope he finds success with his chassis brand.

i think it was bob,s pinto that they first put the 4 link under , not for sure though , but that ole pinto with that twin dominator clevland was bad news in its day , bob had a fairmont i think first and it was on a ladder bar .........

I was at Duck River Sunday and watched rusty win the 604 crate race in his dominator chassis and let me tell u that car was fast...entry and exit speed was faster than any 604 I seen run in a wild...you would have thought he had a super motor in that thing...i went over and looked at that car after the race and he said the just built that car this past week...it was still bare Metal frame..no powdercoat or anything and let us look under the rear of the car and he was on Z link both sides...said it is a combo car with option of 4bar

Did Rayburn take Rusty under his wing and teach him how to do what he is doing? Seems like Rayburn has been teaching him the business so to speak
