50k to win PDC

I haven't been to the PDC since they moved the date to July and now that it is broadcasted live I see no reason to go.

It was already a crown jewel in my mind. I love the place. Sitting in front of a tv is no comparison to being there or any of the major events. I’ll make the long journey every time.

as I'm sure you already know car counts are never a problem at fairbury for the PDC. They hardly have enough room for the entries as it is.

I didn't say they needed more cars. It would give the local and/or lower budget guys a chance at a better payday.

Payout throughout would be better than top heavy. I hope they have parking and adding more camping to solve some issues. All I have to say is if your traveling a few hours or more make sure you get reserved seats before you plan to go otherwise your wasting your time coming. Unless your bored an want to wait in line for 3 plus hours just to put a blanket down and be in line at 10am if not earlier.

Question is what does the extra $20k to win do for the event/fans? Have a hard time believing they will get more cars to show up.

Most overrated race on the planet, too crowded, too many drunks, no parking, no security, not enough bathrooms etc etc etc. I’ll still be there but I liked it more when it was smaller.

I have not seen the payout yet, but I wonder if they will increase the Prairie Dirt Shootout from $2000.00? I do remember, it pays 2000 to start the PDC, which is not bad.

JayD, they do have security on the grounds. A cop has passed thru the parking area the last 2 years while I was cooking/drinking between races. They do have a problem with overcrowding and not enough parking. I to enjoyed it more 10 years ago.

I come and go that weekend as it's close enough a drive that I can sleep in my own bed. That saying, when I show up, I have sometimes parked about as far away as you possibly can. But it's still closer than most NHRA or NASCAR events I go to. They do need to figure out more seating tho.

Wouldn't this be the highest paying dirt race ever in Illinois? Maybe that's what they (the people in charge) like right now.

But what does that really mean at the end of the day? Pay the money thru the field and keep the racing sustainable. Call it the largest purse in IL if you need to stroke your ego that bad!

Showdown Features (Friday night) are advertised as each being $2500 to win (and there are 4 of them.)

They are adding seating in the pits which should help free up some seats in the main seating.

Plus the new thing this year is paying your for your weekend entrance as part of seat reservation. There were a number of folks who simply paid the seat reservation fee and then saved the extra space for themselves at the cost of $5/seat. The new rules for PDC weekend will see those people now have to pay the full weekend admission for each seat they are reserving. It hurts my family personally because that means we we now pay for both of our children, but the announcement included that children will receive a 'goodie' bag upon entering - so that helps soften the blow a little.

I'm sure parking will continue to be tight, but there was still camping available last year. To camp on-grounds, it would take an act of god honestly. Any available spots are scooped up really fast. But there were still plenty of camping spots on the property on West Pine Street - about 3-4 blocks from the track.

We live in town and still go camp for the entire week.

I have wondered if they couldn't do some sort of shuttle from a school or some other parking area in town. I get there on the Saturday by like 2:00pm & the school grounds across the street from the track are close to full at that time. Have reserved seats so that isn't a problem, but I imagine someone arriving at 4:00 or 5:00 would have a hike to get to the track.

There's nothing overrated about this race. If you like great racing and a great atmosphere, this race is it. The overcrowding of people just shows you this race isn't overrated.
