I grew up in the area Mccarter is from, the difference is there is so much growth down here (specifically North Carolina) that the property will not sit. My home town looks virtually the same as it did 40 years ago (actually, more 'run down'), however the expansion down here eats up any and all available property. Dirt tracks in Iowa have a better chance of surviving down time......

The same reason why people own million dollar dirt teams. They love the sport and want to keep it going. Privately owned race tracks here are owned by people who have other more successful businesses and it's a side business.

It's not just about racing, or any other one thing. It's about life. Are we going to stop living because of fear? Are we going to give up freedom because of fear? And for how long? Who really thinks this virus is just going to magically disappear in 2 weeks? Or a month? 6 months? Or even a year?

The truth is this virus, in some form or another, is probably going to be with us from now on, just like the flu. Are we never going to live a normal life again because of the fear of it?

There was a time when we were "the land of the free and the home of the Brave". Our founding fathers were brave enough to challenge the king of England and the worlds greatest empire. Apparently, we are no longer that same kind of people. We seem to have become the land of the lemmings and the home of the timid instead!

It's not as much of a side business as it is a tax shelter for those folks you described.
