I guess i should have asked if it will be the first major racing event. Right before the US Nationals. World 100

No but a driver could pull double duty or even quadruple duty on July 4th. The GMR Grand Prix IndyCar race was postponed to that weekend which is the same weekend as the NASCAR race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMS president Boles asked Tony to consider it.Originally posted by Zonks32x View PostThere's a 500 lap DLM on Indiana???
Joking aside, maybe the re-schedule opens the door for an F1 driver or two. Nascar is at Dover that weekend, so doubtful anyone pulls double duty.
Here is a thought as well.

I love the Indy 500 along with many other forms of racing but let’s face its the grand daddy of them all.Originally posted by Zonks32x View PostThere's a 500 lap DLM on Indiana???Joking aside, maybe the re-schedule opens the door for an F1 driver or two. JayD,
Up until 1996, I'd agree, but the CART/IRL split changed indycar racing & racing in America forever. That decision put Nascar on top as the top racing series in the land.
I remember watching Indy 500 qualifying on TV (ABC) as a kid, and the joint was packed. Qualifying weekend was almost as big of an event as the race itself. Not the case today.
Indy today is a long way from the days of Foyt, Unser, Andretti, Rahal, Mears, etc.
They're back to 300,000+ on race day, and I'm happy about that, but crickets for qualifying, practice, and every other event on their schedule.Last edited by Zonks32x; 03-26-2020, 10:47 PM.

Used to love watching Indy qualifying on tv as a kid........and without a doubt a day of Monaco,Indy and Charlotte is the best non dirt race day of the year.Originally posted by Zonks32x View PostJayD,
