What is the first race track you ever attended?

My first race was at Michigan International Speedway in the early 1980’s. I was about 14. Bill Elliott won it. A few months later my neighbor took me to my first dirt track race, at Butler Motor Speedway. I think it was a sprint car race. The track had oiled clay.

I barely remember going to Soldier Field (where the Chicago Bears play) for a race when I was about 5 or 6. I remember more clearly going to Raceway Park (1/8th mile paved) in Calumet Park, IL

Hales Corners Speedway, WI in '78.

Figured out right quick why nobody was sitting in the bottom rows entering turn 1. Quickly moved back up top where the family was.😂

Track is long gone. Now it's a Menards.

They were running jalopies as I recall... not much different than my old Mastersbilt!

There is a white 1939 Ford coupe with an 8 ball as the number in a museum in Towanda, Illinois. I believe 3 or 4 brothers from Lincoln, Illinois owned it and one of them drove it. IIRC the brothers' last name was Anderson. You probably won't remember but there's a chance that car was racing at Fairbury back in '56. Legend has it that this car won 25 or 26 features in a row.

1960 at a 1/4 mile track in Hawkinsville, Ga. Harvey Jones and his brother, Hulan. Willie and Eddie McDonald. These 4 were the ones to beat every week This track has been gone for 50 years. Sunday afternoon races. As a kid, I don't remember it being too dusty. Great memories.

Your analysis, and obsession is equal parts humorous, since it's fun being in someone's head to that degree, and the absorption is creepy at the same time! When you throw in the credibility of a retarded field mouse it makes for an strange mix of character flaws! LOL!

I was too young to remember, but it was either O'hare speedway, by the airport, or Waukegan speedway - both in Ill. Long closed, of course. This was mid 60's. As soon as I could drive, it was off to SantaFe for me.

Mid 60's, It was paved pretty quick as they couldn't control the dust!

My first race was 1951, BIR/Birmingham, Top drivers back then were, Harold and Freddy Fryer, plus Nero Stepto. I watched Nero run 23 laps with the left front tire and wheel off and won the feature. I also seen the Grand Nationals run there with Pearson, Baker, Petty and Fireball Roberts. The last big one was the North/South last year...

Under no circumstances would I like to see a 700hp motor outrun a 900hp, but I agree that the BURG made the wrong move in making this track over the old one.
