Assuming it's going to happen, we're planning our first trip to the Hillbilly 100, then heading to Eldora for the World. Does anyone hit any races on Labor Day between the two tracks? As long as it's dirt it doesn't matter what divisions. Any advice for first time visit to Tyler County? Can you typically get a camping spot if you arrive Sunday morning?Thanks for any input.

I live 25 mins from Tyler. The racing most of the time is fantastic. People complain about the dust but it never really bothers me, you will get dirty but just make sure you wear eye protection. With the new grandstands, you're literally on top of the track, sit as high as you can. The Watsons have made tons of improvements at the speedway, new lighting, bleachers, concessions, etc. Get a fish sandwich, you won't be disappointed. As far as other tracks racing between Tyler and Eldora, I can't think of any. It's a short turn around for most guys. We also do the Hillbilly to Eldora trip every year, it's the best time of the year IMO.Comment

Yes it is- but when you can’t see the cars on the track- what’s the point of going?
The Hillbilly was on our bucket list of venues. We went on our way to Eldora a couple years ago and it was 2 trips in 1. Might have just been a very bad day- but we looked like we had been in a war zone in Saudi Arabia!
To each there own- but we have been to race tracks all over the United State & never experienced nothing like that!
Maybe with the improvements they have added a few water trucks to shuffle the water from the creek down the road.Comment

Cherokee was like that for Lucas last week. Just goes with SLM racing at some tracks. That’s a lot of horsepower, cars and Dirt for 50 laps and more.Comment

The creek runs behind the backstretch. There's tons of rumors as to why the place gets so dusty. I promise you they water it plenty, I've seen it wet as can be and still be real dusty come feature time.
One theory I've heard is that Tyler County's unique configuration may be part of the dust problem. The cars are pretty much in a slide the entire way around the track. The backstretch is more like a turn.
I've also heard theories on so much silt being in the creek where they get their water to water the track.Comment

Pennsboro I also have heard about the silt in the creek bed theory- it could be a combination of both issues you are referring to?
I am not trying to give Tyler County a bad image at all. Tracks are different & fans are different- that’s what makes dirt racing so special!!!Comment
