    Rome

Says the Southern Nationals race has been moved from Rome to Cochran on July 19th because of resurfacing. Why would they do that now for?

Sounds fishy! Micky may be old enough to be slipping too much now, or Chase, Mia or whoever made such a decision. Not sure. Micky of yester-year would NOT give up such a money making race!

Swims behavior during this whole year has been fishy. He definitely doesn't run the place like he used to.

I’ve thought the same thing Hawkeye. Seems like now they could care less than they used to if the front gate opens. Seems like an excuse to take another weekend off. They resurfaced Rome about 10 years ago. The first race after was terrible. Never been on a track with ruts that bad. Around 2010 I think?

My thing is that he has had all spring and summer to do that and he waits until 2 weeks before the 1st race. He had already cut a race from rome this year. Hopefully somebody intelligent will eventually take it over and run it correctly

The facility does seem to be getting a bit run down, but still very impressive!!

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

Patience my friends, Mickey always likes to put a fresh load of gravel on Rome before the first race of the season.http://www.4m.net/images/smilies/rolleyes.png

I saw some great races in the 90s and early 2000s there. Ronnie Johnson won a Hav-a-Tampa race (I believe $10,000) and I know Ray Cook won a race I saw, too.

I gave up on Rome few years back. Been a good while since an exciting super race. Sad.

I gotta wonder if the Lucas race in October will be ran?

Good questions. I know of a few tracks that would be willing to take that date.
