The actual size of the purse is even bigger than that, as there were very few big paying late model events.

I remember one of the announcers at Eldora talking about the first World 100. At the time, many thought it might have been a misprint, or that the total purse was $4,000. In 1971, a 4K to win race was unimaginable.
