Austin Kirkpatrick blazing his own trail in Dirt Late Model racing

Rather than buy a chassis like the ones others have, Austin Kirkpatrick has chosen to build his own cars.

Awesome stuff. Not a school trained engineer but neither was Smokey Yunick. Does Austin work in NASCAR? Lives in Charlotte I see.

To build his own is impressive in today’s world. He also is honest about his chassis and driving style being more suitable at certain race tracks. Could he be the next Mark Richards?

Had another good run at Smokey Mountain this past weekend with the SAS races. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't buy into the cookie cutter path that is the system these days and I wish the young man much success.

Looking at race monitor from Charlotte test today...
              Kyle Larson 14.133
              Austin Kirkpatrick 14.153

(Track record is 14.3). Would be awesome to see these 2 square off at the world finals
