Old Barefoot Bob didn't take any crap for sure. He couldn't afford to! He was the Shoestring Traveler of the DIRT modified guys.

Just because he used an open trailer when his contemporaries started getting into rugs doesn’t mean he was low budget. His cars and motors were every bit as potent (and expensive) as guys like Hearn or whoever was in Billy Taylor’s stuff. He’s just one of them guys who simply doesn’t believe a hauler makes you faster.

Also, the Barefoot nickname didn’t have anything to do with his perceived lack of funds.

One thing I have noticed is that that it seems nothing matters on the car, except the nose. 15 years ago, if you had your spoiler half torn off, you were done. now these guys drive so aggressively, they dont care if they rip the quarter panel off, the spoiler off, the side off..as long as that big nose is planted, and the rear of the car itself acts like the spoiler, they drive over their heads and bonzai every corner, every lap.

Davenport said it cost him a win in the wwso. They are going 25 mph in the features at EB. It still matters at most tracks.
