At Florence Speedway we had 20 SLM entries for a 10k to win, NO entry fee, had a number of drivers have their check books out and was very appreciative that there was not an entry fee

The weather was fair 50+ no chance of rain on race day

The crowd was great, the weather didn't scare them away

We had some heavy hitters, top notch talent on hand and the racing was very good

So maybe this is what it is during this time of year

I was told by a purchasing rep that steel is $1 a pound now and China and Russia bought up all the scrap steel in the past year and sent it back to China and Russia before COVID. When COVID hit China and Russia kept making steel but we signed the USMCA pact and thus China cannot dump steel into the U.S. and same goes for Russia. So it was a U.S. made hit. the 4 major steel companies can only run 2 or 3 of their boilers because thats all the supply they have. Also chemical companies are hurting because they cannot get stuff from China. Also late in 2019 my brother in law could not get certain parts for A/C and Furnaces because of the deal.

Well I can say with certainty that scrap steel prices are up and steel went up around new year. On my end I'm expecting things to level off around summer. We went from shutdown delivering minimal product to balls to wall business as if nothing ever happened over night. Don't see that sustaining. Expecting a lull then things to even itself back right

That same shortage is happening in the excavation business right now. We released all the pipe for our job, 28,000 ft all at once. We usually do not. But the resin or whatever that we use in the pipe, it’s all plastic, is going outta control. But this is because of the crap show in Texas. So the shortage is also going to happen in construction to pretty soon.

I don't suppose the FACT that the gas and fuel prices have been rising dramatically recently might something to do with it as well? If it keeps going up as predicted many fans wont be able to afford a to drive to the tracks.

Gas was $1.60 at the end of 2016. It was $2.75 by mid 2017. It was $2.00 at the start of 2021 and $2.65 now. If we could afford it in 2017, we can afford it now. The price of just about everything (groceries, lumber, etc) has skyrocketed since 2017. Much more than gas has.

One of my family members got t-boned a couple of months ago in his 6 month old F250. Its still at the dealer waiting on parts that are on national backorder. The body work needed isnt all that bad but the main problem, it deployed all the airbags, 3 on the driver side, and theyre on backorder as well!

Certain parts of our economy are really slowing down.......not a good sign!

They will start falling soon. Have a little. It was because of what happened in Texas. When a major fuel/refinery supply is totally shut down, it will screw stuff up for awhile. As I said, reason our pipe is going to be on a shortage too.

Then you add in Covid and the world economy, I’d say still a good 6 months to a year till stuff is about “normal “.

And as much as I say F the oil industry, at them gas prices, the oil was being traded at a ridiculously low price per barrel. Great for us the consumer, but as in everything, gotta be some compromises, give an take. I know that not in our vocabulary much anymore, but should be.

The freeze that happened in Texas absolutely is affecting the fuel. They couldn’t pump oil, they couldn’t refine oil, that kinda fuks up the supply chain.

And it affects the stuff the construction industry uses to make pipe.

I'm sorry cnb but I'm calling spade a spade. Like mentioned before was already rising prior too. Also opec sets oil drum prices. The middle east intentionally slowed their production due to lower demand from rona and thus crude oil rose once getting going again since demand high supply low, or as they'd like us to believe. I paid 2.09 in Mississippi week of freeze and 2.69 here in Ohio. The price jump is also largely due to Biden canceling US using and selling our own supply.
