Yea that atomic driving exhibition on Thursday was a great driving exhibition. It certainly wasn’t a race. Gotta love seeing those ponies get unleashed and watching guys drive around the fence and not passing anyone or seeing half baked slide jobs. Might as well watch a nascar race at talladega.

Every track should focus on trying to replicate the north south 100 in 2019.

Funny thing is that there is a section just for crate lates on 4m. The page is as quiet as a cemetery. That's why a certain few come to the super late section to post.

Why do people think crate racing is cheaper ? You call rocket or longhorn and ask that question they will laugh. That crate POS costs the same as every slm out there for a roller. Now we're going to talk motors, the fast crate guys with the stackers and 2 cars, probably bought more than 1 motor sometimes 3 just so they can get them on a dyno to see which one pulls harder. Then they have the licensed, what a joke that is, engine builder blueprint the motor so they can get a few hundred more rpm's out of it. Most wind them so tight you lose spring pressure on a given cylinder then guess what ? Back to that licensed motor builder. Cha ching. They race for pennies on the dollar, 1000 to win is a big deal. There entry fee's at a extra paying show is higher. So you finish mid pack in a crate race you get what 50.00. Crate racing puts a ton of cash into the pockets of the 2 series that run the late models. One found out how the other was doing it and has gone crates for every class out there. Promotors are to stupid to get together and come up with a good 358 motor program so guys could build there own stuff. Rant over. Let's go 4 cylinder racin, but you need to know what the difference is between a socket and a hammer.

I agree with most of what you've said here but. Actually if you call rocket or longhorn and want the "best" the crate car is around 10k more lol

Trick lightweight parts cost more, the crate car gets a different rear aswell as a few other parts

There's pockets here in the south east that don't even run 604s as their own class anymore. 602s only. Any 604s have to run with 525/Limited.

602's are the worst. They sound bad, they run lousy and are made with $h!t parts. I'm, also averse to disposable engines... Too many rules that make zero sense, like how long the RF shock shaft has to be. 604 should ditch the bolts and do honest tech as well as letting you do your own rebuilds if you wish as well as picking your own cam grind. JMO

Other than motor how much "cheaper" is competitive crate racing than regular open motor?

The biggest lie I was ever told was when the track owner here decided to go to crate engines back when the crate engine deal started. He said "we are going to save you a lot of money". We were building our own engines for about what we ended up spending on a blueprinted 604. What really disgusted me was when I saw what was in the piece of crap 604. I told the engine guy we had thrown a dumptruck load of better parts than that in the scrap pile. And the prices keep going up from the motor builders. The guy I help has a crate and a super. I just put a $900 set of valve springs on a super motor after 650 laps. I don't see how any of it, crates or supers, can keep going if costs keep going like they are. The series, track owners and engine bulders are all going to let you spend all the money you have. Just hope they realize that the line of guys who can afford it seems to get shorter every day.
