Kyle Larson scores FloRacing victory at Brownstown

I think we can say that we won't see another one like Larson for a LOOONG time. Simply a master behind the wheel on dirt. I saw him in person 6 times last year (4 sprint, 1 midget, 1 silver crown). Witnessed 4 wins (3 sprint & 1 silver crown) & 2 close 2nds (Kokomo midget week & Knoxville show where he barely got beat by David Gravel).

Actually there is another one that is almost as good, if not just as good. Christopher Bell jumps in cars he has never drove before and wins right off the bat as well. Unfortunately for us dirt racing folks, his Nascar owner does not let him drive on dirt near as much as Kyle can.

anyone not enjoying the larson show is missing out on the definition of a "racer".

i liked watching tony stewart but he tended to be willing to tear up anyone to get to the front (many underfunded racers).

probably not many here old enough to remember a.j.'s accomplishments.

sadly, drivers venturing to local short tracks isn't nearly as common as it once was.

I know Larson is good , but I will not be totally impressed until he goes to Boone, Iowa next year and wins the Hawkeye WOO late model race.

Larson is what you saw in the late 60's early 70's. Drivers like A.J., Parnelli, Andretti, Opperman. We consider these guys to be gods. They could race a midget one night, nascrap, indy. You name it, they were that good. Well make room at that table gentlemen. There's a young buck taking a page from the past and sweeping around you guys on the last lap for the win

Let's recall the conversations about Kyle Larson on this board:

His win last year at Port Royal was a fluke in only his second DLM start.....
His spanking of the field at All Tech in January was OK, but let's see him race a DLM on a tight bullring....
His performance at Tyler County was impressive but we still are not believers....
His win last night passing English was impressive.....

Do we believe in Yung Money yet? Sprint cars, both Winged & Non Winged, Midgets, Silver Cup and now Dirt Late Models......he is one of the best dirt track racers that I have ever seen in my lifetime!!!!

I think part of the latemodel side of this equation is him and rumley are kinda a perfect fit for each other. Kevin likes to go outside the box and look at every aspect of the racecar objectively witch leads to innovation and untraditional setups. Some times those innovative setups don't feel very good to a more experienced driver because he is looking for a particular feel. Larson is a blank sheet of paper when it comes to a latemodel so he's not fighting any bad habits if you will. It's really the perfect storm and the two of them could set records

That was a very impressive run, and from 14th too.

Couldn't agree more, lurker. You solidified my point. Larson can go balls out and take calculated chances and make split second decisions in a short race on a bull ring and win impressively and then turn around a week later and thoughtfully save his tire and preserve his car driving a bigger, heavier Silver Crown car during a long race with no pit stops on a mile dirt track. The correct decisions have to be made in the seat, in the heat of competition during those races and he consistently makes them on all size tracks and distances with near surgical accuracy.

It's a bit puzzling to see some continue to say "he won't impress me until he wins this event on this track". It's clearly obvious that if given competitive equipment he can win in anything, anywhere on dirt. SMFH.

The lone exception is the USAC Silver Crown division. Christopher Bell hasn't been impressive is the USAC Silver Crown cars. He competed in 8 SC races on dirt in 2013-14, 7 were on dirt. 3 starts on 1 mile dirt tracks at Springfield, Du Quoin and the Indy Fairgrounds Mile, the rest were on 1/2 miles at Terre Haute, Eldora and The Belleville High banks. I was in the stands for all 7. His best finish was at Belleville where he ran a distant 3rd behind Kody Swanson and Tracy Hines. He would have been 4th had Chris Windom not run out of fuel late in the race while leading. However, I have no doubts he'd win SC races consistently if he put his mind to it.

In Bell's defense he had car trouble in 3 of those races.

It's unclear as to what there is about this race that is hard to watch. The past 4 or 5 SC races at Springfield have been hugely entertaining, as well. I reckon the old adage "no accounting for taste" applies.
