A lot of people are just in denial. The place is beautiful and will always draw big crowds, but, as I said the day it was announced, the decision to go back to the 5/8 track was a bad one. The car counts will always be low and the attrition will always be a factor. There might be occasional exceptions, but that will generally be the rule. It’s not because The Dream is the following week. It’s just the track itself and the reputation it has. I want to be wrong, because I have a personal connection to WVMS, and spent many a night there back in the 90’s when I lived only 15 minutes from the track. But I’ve talked to a whole bunch of drivers through the years about WVMS, and with everything becoming even more expensive over the past several years, I doubt they’ve changed their opinions recently.Comment

Terry, there’s no doubt the track is too big. Everyone knows that. They need to just build a 3/8 in the middle of it or pave it. But the dream being four days absolutely kept the majority of the top teams away. Had it been any other Lucas off weekend, I’d assume that Owens, McCreadie, and others would have been there.Comment
