I think it was after the $20k race in Virginia where he said "He thinks he finally got the car back to his liking."

I've seen Mars, Davenport, Bloomer and others go on hot streaks.
They all eventually came to a end.

Highside - I agree to a point but this is going on over a year now. When does it stop being a streak and start being potentially one of the best drivers of the current era of DLM racing? Another year? Or two? And are his accomplishments even more appreciable this day in age when its so darn competitive? Take nothing away from the GOATS but I don't think the 80's and early/mid 90's were as competitive as DLM racing is today.

                      Barbeque,

Indeed he does. But sometimes, at Ocala, the heat of the moment overcomes him.

I was wondering the same thing. Of course the announcer didn't notice cause who knows what he's watching, then he went on about how Overton might have a problem and pontificated until the green came out again.

If by “better car” you mean setup wise then yes, right now they’ve hit on things setup wise to be hooked up in the slick better than anyone else is at the moment. But if you mean “better car” purely as equipment then no. Everyone has good equipment now. It’s just figuring out the right combination to make it go faster than everyone else’s good equipment... I’d also say that from hot laps to feature they don’t seem to have to make a ton of adjustments to keep up with the track. You’ll see some guys heat race well and fade in the feature and vice versa. He looks to have dialed in a very good baseline setup that they can take just about anywhere and compete to win. Of course the guy in the drivers seat is pretty good too.

Overton has figured out what he needs in a car for a dry track. I want to see him run on a heavy tacky track with a cushion.

Overton is the guy calling the shots on set up and he is the guy that seemingly can do no wrong behind the wheel. He knows when to charge, he knows when to sit back and let opportunity come to him. The guy has his act totally together and it's a pleasure watching him do what he is doing.

With all due respect to Rick, he's just not a top tier announcer. He doesn't seem to see very much of the action.

As far as Overton, I've heard a few racers say that Overton is very good with shocks, like elite with knowing his chit. It helps he's also a very very good driver.
