how did moyer get hooked up with tim lance?

Tim knows and gets along with alot of the top drivers in the sport. His relationship with Moyer goes back at least 20 years, I remember Tim having a Moyer Rayburn years ago and the story was Tim bought the car in the pits after a race at Eldora. It was said that Moyer didn't want to sell the car, but Tim kept offering more money until Billy couldn't say no. Tim and his brother were very successful in Rayburn cars for alot of years around home and that was more than likely due to the relationship with Moyer. He has also owned some Moyer cars from Billys last attempt at building chassis.
