2 days away from the 42nd Annual Herald & Review 100! Here's some great event notes and event history thanks to Patrick Davis who has worked on this list annually for the past few editions of the event and really dug into the history of the longest-running Super Late Model race in Illinois.

It's that time of year again! The annual stat blast for the annual running of the Herald & Review 100 at Macon Speedway is back as the 42nd edition is just 2 days away.

Herald & Review 100 DIRTcar Racing UMP Summer Nationals event at Macon Speedway facts and stats from throughout the 41-year event history, DirtonDirt style.

1. Shannon Babb (Shannon Babb Racing) has the most event wins in history with 5

2. 5 drivers have won the event in consecutive years (Kevin Weaver 91-92, Ed Bauman 97-98 Shannon Babb 13-14, Bobby Pierce 16-17, Gordy Gundaker 18-19)

3. A driver has won the Herald & Review 100 & Summer Nationals title in the same season 10 times (Rick Standridge 87, Scott Bloomquist (Scott Bloomquist Racing) 90, Billy Moyer 93, Don O'Neal 04, Shannon Babb 06,11,14, Brian Shirley (Brian Shirley Racing) 12, Bobby Pierce 16, 17)

4. No driver has ever won the Herald & Review 100 Summer Nationals event at Macon Speedway 3 years in a row.

5. In the 41-year history, 24 different drivers from 6 states (IL, IN, TN, AR, KY, MO) have won the race

6. 5 of the last 15 Herald & Review 100s have been rescheduled due to rain and/or other circumstances (COVID) at Macon Speedway, not running on the original date (07, 08, 11, 15, 20)

7. Only 1 race (1999) has been completed from green to checkered with no cautions. The race was won by Billy Drake, his 2nd win in the event

8. 2 times a driver has won and led all 100 laps (Rick Standridge 87, Shannon Babb 06)

9. Before the Gordy Gundaker (Gordy Gundaker Racing) win in 2018, the last driver to win the event from a state that had not won the event before was Terry English (KY) in 2003.

17. Brandon Sheppardâ€™s 2020 win on August 14, 2020 made him the first of an Uncle/Nephew combination to win the race. On that same date in 1998, 22 years prior, Ed Bauman would win his 2nd Herald & Review 100 in a row. Bauman was turning wrenches on the family-owned B5 of Sheppard.

18. 6 current National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Drivers have claimed a victory in the Herald & Review 100 (Bob Pierce (83, 85, 94, 01), Roger Long (84), Scott Bloomquist (90), Kevin Weaver (91, 92, 02, 08), Billy Moyer (93), Terry English (03))

19. The fastest qualifying lap in Herald & Review 100 history was set last year on August 14, 2020 by Brandon Sheppard with a lap of 10.361, just above the track record set by Billy Moyer April 30, 2015 during the 2nd running of the St Louis U Pic A Part 100 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event.

20. 38 (2012) is the highest car count in 20 years. The highest in race history is 51 for the inaugural event in 1981.

21. 2 drivers have won the race and gone on to win a national touring series championship (Billy Moyer All Star Circuit of Champions 93, Brandon Sheppard World of Outlaws Late Model Series 2020).

22. 3 drivers have won the Herald & Review 100 at Macon Speedway and the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in the same season a combined 4 times over the course of the 41-year history of the Herald & Review 100 and the 32-year history of the PDC (includes 2020 cancellation of PDC due to C-19) (Weaver 91, Pierce 94, Babb 06, 13)

23. 2 drivers have won the Herald & Review 100 at Macon Speedway and the Illini 100 at Farmer City Raceway in the same season a combined 2 times over the course of the 41-year history of the Herald & Review 100 and the 14-year history of the Illini 100 (includes 2011, 2018 rainout and 2020 cancellation of due to C-19) (Shannon Babb 14, Bobby Pierce 21)

24. The highest finish for a driver taking a provisional is Dennis Erb Jr. (4th in 2009, started 19th)

Last year's HR100 was one of the worst races I've ever seen. Wasted a ton of money driving out there for this one. I still don't understand why they insist on running all of the support divisions first to make sure they race on a good surface, then leave the supers with a burned up piece of garbage. People don't travel 8 hours to watch the B Mods, especially when it takes them 18 tries to get one lap in without a caution!

Yeah that stinks but usually Macon, and the Herald & Review 100, is one of the best dates on the entire Summer Nationals schedule. Usually. the prep is such that little prep is needed. Every track, even the Fairburys and Port Royals of the world, have a bad night. That is what this was. One bad night doesn't define an entire facility or event's history.

Everybody there could tell by how dry the track was that the supers should have run first. They held everybody hostage to sell more food and ruined the show for everybody by doing so. It didn't make any sense at all.

We're not talking Eldora. Track is 1/5 mile, maybe smaller. 100 laps go by in a flash.
I'm thinking Gearhead is gonna engrave his post on his headstone. I was held hostage at a dirt track. Yeah, we heard ya the first time.
