Oakshade ? Never been there, but your right, there are probably tracks in pa that don't pay much.
Spoon - 2024 Payouts. SLM $2000, Mods, $1500, E-Mods $600, Hornets $300, Crates $1000

It hasn't killed other tracks why would it kill spoon?Originally posted by cgrace View PostWhat will kill Spoon is FIVE CLASSES --- there is nothing worse as a fan sitting there through FIVE CLASSES. There must be some cars out there -- look at the long list of people willing to spend TONS to race at the Dome. It is one of the most expensive events of the year, the pit passes, hotel fees, food purchases and more. It is beyond frustrating to me that they don't race throughout the year and head to the Dome to make it a crash fest. There's also tons of crates who decide they are a late model for the Dome. Maybe just combine lates and crates at Spoon.

If they could average over 1500 fans per week, it could work. 2000 would be nice.
Depends on how many chiefs and how many warriors they have. lolIf you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

i was shocked that every race there that wasnt PDC had a very small crowd imo. i tuned into DV every time they were on & the crowds they had were miniscule in comparison.Originally posted by kidrock View PostThat's just not going to happen. I don't know of any track that consistently averages 1500 fans for a weekly show. Back in the day maybe but not in today's world.8/13/16

Sadly you may be right. I know Florence Speedway has had pretty poor attendence for regular shows for several years now.
Some tracks are still having good crowds weekly, like Portsmouth, or at least they were for many years. In 2022 Portsmouth paid $2000 for LM feature winners. I don't know about last year or now though. If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

When Florence does some of their various promotional events for cheap food or tickets, they do fairly decent.Originally posted by Buford.Justice View PostSadly you may be right. I know Florence Speedway has had pretty poor attendence for regular shows for several years now.

Portsmouth still pays $2k. Attendance was very poor this season, cars and fans.
Guys who run Farmer City for $1k, should love this purse.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Well that is true. But this does nothing to help the late model divisions continued decline.
Quite dissappointing considering this track upped the LM to win to $1000.00 way back in the late 1970's. $6.00 admission by the way.
Reality is, the purses can't keep up with the LM costs. If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

If tracks can't get sponsors for more money then the gate prices need to go up. The problem is the fans don't want to pay what's needed for higher purses.
Would you pay 30.00 at the front gate for three classes= Late Models, A-mods and Hornets or Street stocks?
