Bad Golf Cart Crash at Eldora Careflight Called.

Anyone at the track or close be careful there has been a serious Golf Cart Crash and care flight has been called. The Crash happened Friday at 2p.m. No other info as far as what I can tell on www.whio.com. I hope everyone will be ok.

That was a different issue than this one.

Rossburg - On June 7, 2024 at 2:44 p.m Darke County Deputies, along with Rossburg Fire and Ansonia Rescue, were dispatched to Speedy Campground at 4281 North Star Ft. Loramie Rd. in reference a subject struck by a golf cart.

Preliminary investigation showed that an EZ GO golf cart was sitting at a campsite. The owner, William Fields Jr. (63) of Tilton, IL., reported that he was standing beside the golf cart, when the golf cart took off. Fields attempted to grab the golf cart to stop it, but was dragged to the ground. The driverless golf cart continued driving for approximately 25-30 yards before striking Jill Koontz (68) of Mapleton, IL, who was sitting in a lawn chair. The golf cart continued past Koontz and struck a 2022 Freedom Traveler motorhome. The golf cart continued spinning its tires as it was wedged under the side of the motorhome until a witness turned the key off.

Koontz was rendered aid by several by-standers until Deputies arrived on scene. Koontz was treated by Ansonia Rescue and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Koontz's condition is unknown at this time.

It is unknown at this time what caused the golf cart to engage the throttle and start driving off.

I've seen too many incidents at the races with golf carts, ATV and pit bikes to support their continues use. I won't name the track, but one night a crippled man in a wheelchair was watching at the fence when some teens came and parked their golf cart behind him. They only stayed a few minutes and started to leave only the cart surged ahead and pinned the man against the fence and continued pressing the man into the fence. I had to take control of the cart from the teen to free the man. Luckily no lasting injuries, but they are a nuisance. IMHO.

While I get that issue and thought my first instinct was why was person at fence? My next thought why so many lawsuits? Well things like this, someone at a fence or negligent parents.
