I just read an article about Billy Moyer Sr recent accident, they say that Moyer Jr has quit racing and that he doesn’t watch or keep up with it, he completely separated himself from it, I think he won the Comp Cams series championship last year did he not? I assume his focus now is coaching basketball??

He is a full time school teacher/ coach these days.
Billy Sr. Made him get a college education. Not sure but I think he teaches business classes.Comment

Yeah I read that too, I knew he was cutting back but didn't know he was completely quitting. Figured he'd drive a car for somebody from time to time, I also thougt he was still doing chassis work / setup support for guys but I guess not. Sounds like he is pulling a Mark Kinser, win races and championships, and leave the track one day and never go back.Last edited by zach51; 07-11-2024, 11:05 AM.Comment

A backup plan is always a good idea. Darned few racers can make it to retirement age and still make a living at it. Things change in life and it's wise to be prepared.Comment

It’s always seemed like Moyer Jr’s heart really wasn’t all the way into racing. Apparently that is actually the case. There’s nothing wrong with that. He probably just enjoys teaching and coaching more than living in the shadow of his legendary father.Comment

I always liked Billy Jr, he just seemed like a good guy. It was probably a smart decision by going and getting a teaching degree. I feel like it will be tough for the guys that are around his age or younger to make it long enough to retirement age and actually have funds to fall back on to survive.Comment
