According to the Lucas Oil site, he's earned $18,675 this season and managed to not drop off the tour. I'd like the financial planners info for whoever is funding that team, they must be a genius.

He showed up out of the blue at Peoria (Illinois) one night earlier this year. He got into a fender bender in the heat race and a crew guy came out and straightened some sheet metal under caution. I guess that is a "no-no" because they told him to pull off. He loaded up and left shortly thereafter. I would've at least stayed for my start money, or heck, he could've still finished well from the back of the feature. I guess if money isn't a concern...

What does it matter Every team out their is operating at a loss if your only counting money won. his team basically consist of him and his dad and i think one crew guy. Weather their investing in his future success by putting him on the road and letting him take his lumps or their just doing a bucket list type tour. Their not wasting/ losing anymore money than the big teams. They are probably running the same 2-3 engines all year and 2 cars his dads had that hauler for years. They were gonna race every week regardless and if all his starts had been local he probably wouldn't of made 5k yet. Hell everytime jd wins anywhere but eldora be talks about this being a new car and a fresh motor. Id be willing to bet that dollar won vs dollar spent that teams numbers are better than most of the top teams.Originally posted by 84wedge View PostAccording to the Lucas Oil site, he's earned $18,675 this season and managed to not drop off the tour. Interesting take. Which teams do you think Lawler is doing better than? The top three alone have a million split between the three of them. I guess Rocket could be a good candidate for losing money this tour.Originally posted by Jking24 View PostTheir not wasting/ losing anymore money than the big teams.

Ok so for conversation sake we will round that to 350k evenly per team. Now take 50% of that and give it to the driver and crew. We're at 175 then add in that most of the big teams crew members are salary plus percentage of earnings so theirs a minimum of another say 100k (probably more) for 3 guys. We're down to 75k all of those teams are riding around in near new haulers that have notes on them sure they sell them and recoup some of their cost but their always paying on the current one that's 700k+ the smallest of the big teams have 3-4 cars and close to double that for engines at any given time. The amount of money the big teams waste in tires alone could probably cover coreys fuel bill in the hauler lol. I was at Port last weekend and saw several piles of tires that were in near new condition at the front of several "big" teams haulers. Now one could argue that they can sell those tires and offset their cost witch I've seen Corey doing that. But these big teams all cut the tire off the wheel because they claim it's easier to dismount later sure it is.... 🙄. I guess my major point is most of the big teams burn 100 dollar bills like it's a competition so it doesn't really matter what their winnings are their always spending far more than their making.

Yea I'm sure some guys like Boom Briggs do lose money fairly quickly, but do you think Pierce spent more than the $1.4 million he had in winnings last year?Originally posted by Jking24 View PostI guess my major point is most of the big teams burn 100 dollar bills like it's a competition so it doesn't really matter what their winnings are their always spending far more than their making.

Probably not but Bobby is only one driver with a very unique set of circumstances. Not the standard or the norm. Bobbys engine bill alone probably puts a pretty big hurtin on his bottom lineOriginally posted by blncfn57 View Post

The $1.4mil sounds right. Over 10yrs ago Jason Meyers (2x WoO Champ) told me that their team’s budget was $1.1mil. The amount of $$$ it takes to run these cars is downright dumb. I’m glad there’s car owners and drivers who are fine with losing hundreds of thousands of dollars to entertain us, lol.

You see what you want to see. What are their huge expenses? An engine at $60,000? Say they have 5 of them, that's $300,000. They more than likely get at least $30,000 back when they sell it (if they choose to not keep freshening it and sell to buy new). That $300,000 just turned into $150,000. The cars? I doubt these touring guys pay the price you see listed on the chassis websites to begin with and prolly get 90% of their actual investment back when they sell them. The hauler? Lets say they buy a $750,000 hauler and use it for 5 years, then sell it for $600,000 to upgrade. Now that hauler only really cost them $30,000 a year to have. Of course all this is assuming they don't junk their equipment in a crash, but those situations are not the norm. I'd say my assessment represents the top half the field in both series. We don't really know the real numbers, but for the most part the cost for the top teams isn't what most people like to think. Rogers Sellers said a while back what the cost was to run a series for a year. I don't remember the exact figure, but I want to say it came out to be around $300,000/ year. I'd say that makes sense once what I wrote above is taken into account.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has 17 race teams with perfect attendance so far in 2024 (which is the most this late in the season ever). As long as they maintain perfect attendance Cory and everybody else eligible is receiving winner's circle money and will get points fund money at seasons end.Originally posted by 84wedge View PostAccording to the Lucas Oil site, he's earned $18,675 this season and managed to not drop off the tour.
