And nascar is the last place you want to get ideas from given they have coughed up 1/2 or more of their audience over the last 20 years. Seems every decision they make is a bad one. As to the points system, does anyone think so much as 1 extra person will decide to go to Eldora to see who wins the points championship that wasn't already going to see a big $100k to win race. I find it highly unlikely. A compelling points chase might create a tv audience, but I don't think extra people are coming to a race to see the points contenders battle it out.

The system Lucas came up with is fine for the drivers & got more $ in their pockets but using it as a vehicle to promote that a guy is the "champion" for the season when he wasn't the best performer over the course of the season is just silly IMO.

The way I see it, RTJ is the 2 time, 2 time Lucas Champ, Larson won his second cup title.

You're right, and the competiton there is getting pretty stiff. I get the feeling Gustin is about to go on an RTJ like rampage in the next year or two.

I was told the reason Brownstown was postponed and not cancelled is it's a backup plan in case the Pittsburgher or East Bay were to cancel. East Bay is obviously in a hurricane zone and anything can happen this time of the year.
