Decent crowd for the last night but the first two nights it was practically deserted, Kind of reminded me of one of our area tracks, now closed, that you could count the couple of dozen fans from your race car at speed in traffic. Never been to Lucas but I understand it's a long way from anywhere but it's sure a beautiful facility and I'm sure Forrest can afford the joint.

I can understand crowds not being what they were through out the summer. With the saturation of events nowadays, guys running over 100 races, fans do have other things to do. Kids sports become a big factor this time of the year.

Just from the drone shots, it looked almost deserted. Lucas can afford it but wealthy people don't like to lose money. Same situation with Bill Sawyer and VMS. Two great facilities with sparse support.

I think part of it as well is that the fans in that area get to see those same MLRA guys several times a year. Due to LOLMDS, Fairbury, Gumbo Nats all last weekend, there weren't really any "huge" names there. Gustin was about the biggest name right now that was there.

Also, High Limits Sprints will be at Lucas Wednesday night (tomorrow), so a lot of people within traveling distance to the track might have stayed home and saved up for that event.

I was there on Saturday. Decent crowd. My biggest complaint is there were only two classes, MLRA late models and super stocks. I left at 1230 and they still had the super stock 50 lap feature to run. There is no reason whatsoever other than a rain delay to be there that long. They were an hour late starting because the track prep wasn't done.

I get that a dragged out evening is a bore but there's there's often an upside to only having two classes. The few times each year when I'm at a track or on FLO as a spectator and not a racer I despise the shows with 6 or eight classes to suffer through to see the main attraction. I also get that the back gate helps the track pay the bills but watching a bunch of often short fields or bumbling drivers constantly spin or wreck,in my opinion, doesn't help and only hurts attendance. It's a tough nut being a promoter these days and there's too many other options for people to choose from these days.

Or like here in the South when you have super late models, limited late models, sportsman late models, 604 late models, and 602 late models. It's rare to see all of those at one track. But I have seen at least 4 of those at the same time.

The $50k+ races have really put a hurt on the regional races outside of HTF and some other areas that don't see super late models that often.

As you might guess, three of the four 4 cylinder classes couldn't drive a lick. At another track, there was a full field of pure stocks, with a 30 minute time limit, and at one race, not one lap was completed before time expired. Wished some of these tracks would require a driving test before you could race.

I wish they'd make them race on a different night altogether. Get every 4cyl. around to race on the same day and get it over with.
