Is Davenports "Eldora car" just superstition?

He mentioned how that car turns and gets off corners well. Could this be proof of not all chassis are created equal?

It could definitely be proof that not all longhorns are created the same

Might just be one of those "suits the driver to a T" situations. The "old girl", as he refers to it, will go!

Only a matter of time until someone puts a bounty on that thing.

At the end of the day, no way to make the cars 'identical'. Different people welding, tubing from different batches, powder coating temp different, the list of possible 'variables' goes on and on. I will say that they should be a lot closer than the old days when the cars flexed a ton, but getting two that act exactly alike would be extremely rare. Or the other piece, maybe something was done 'wrong' on the 'good car', if that mistake is not known than duplicating it would be impossible....

The docol was supposed to eliminate the tubing variable, but I'm not sure how much it's still being used. Notching and order of welds is critical. They'd all be roughly the same if they were built rigid enough. We aren't there though. Not sure they get hot enough in powder coat to do much.

My opinion that car's steel tubing was a very very good run a good batch...YOU SEE THE WHOLE CAR WAS PROBB THE SAME BATCH...If you start building assembly line cars stacks of the same bent bars you get diff batchs of steel..one other thing the welder could have had a very good day too! Also Its no lie race cars are like people aint no two the same!

If a racer has been around long enough, they have all had at least 1 car that they wish they had never sold. And more they wish they had sold sooner

I deff would be looking at the serial number and try to find some numbers before and after it?Anyone thought of that?

Some of the manufacturers are using pull down rigs to check chassis flex; obviously would show how consistent the builds are and how they change over time. A few years ago I had two cars come off the jig and put together side by side, thought they were 'identical'. First car was good all around, second car was only good at momentum tracks....

It's a combo of things. He has always been good at Eldora even before the Rumley days. He was fast but couldn't get to the finish in his younger days. So the track suits him & they have hit on a car that runs perfect there. Add that to the fact that he is one of the most well funded teams & is in perfect position to take advantage of the aero dominant racing that occurs these days. Add that together & you end up with a pretty unbeatable combo. Pierce got him in September cause Pierce has the skill & the track being prepped right before the feature left a solid cushion to run on more than in some years. Also temps were pretty cool so track didn't burn up as fast.
