This really shows what a joke both series are. $220,000 of payoff and only 27 cars. It looks like there are maybe three cars that represent XR and two or three cars that represent ULMS.

Stands look absolutely empty. They’ll probably have more people the first two nights but $35-$50 for a crappy 25 lap, 27 Garfield super late model feature is not worth the admission price.

Go cry. You weren’t there. Wasn’t bad for a Thursday night crowd. Saturday will be packed. And a great finish tonight.

He used to put a hurting on em at I-79 with a cheap 406. Diamond those corners. Tim Hitt said hated to get behind him cause he stopped in every corner. Only on gas till about flag stand. Roll it into the corner, pivot and go!

After some thought/sleep, if the racing between Pierce & Moran is what's required to be competitive, not whole lot more cars will come. Remember the HTFSDS race where Bloomer broke something and crashed nearly whole field? Stuff happens. At this place REALLY ugly stuff could happen. Still can't see this place having a long-term future UNLESS they pull turn 3/4 toward turns 1/2 to shorten & widen it. Make it maybe 3/8 mile around inside. Bridges need to be almost twice as wide to make it happen.

I understand some love the nostalgia. You must understand, racing is now a business. Not just some motorheads competing for pizza & beer. Used to race for 1000 bucks every friday night. They spend that much for tires & fuel to get to the track now. I know sponsors pay most of the bills. Somebody has to pay the help. Tearing up cars burns everyone out. Can modern drivers dial back the aggression? Is that still a race or basically an exhibition?

To be clear, XR had done a he-ll of a job throwing a track together in basically a month. Very impressive feat. It's just not suited for modern race cars. Too big for "street stocks" (whatever the fawk they are now) or Mods/4 cyl stuff. The lower class stuff is frequently built to much less stringent quality/safety than store bought. Ok...I'm rambling now.

After practice Braun said "if the racing is good we won't be changing anything". I guess who decides what good is will be the problem. Really not trying to crap all over the cake. Just being realistic. We live in a different time/society now. Most people are quite spoiled. Expect way too much too soon. That isn't likely to change.

We also have to face up to fact, only people that NEED this track is maybe the locals and Braun. Plenty of better tracks within couple hour drive. Again...reality. I'm afraid if they "fix" the track, no real reason for anyone to come. Loses the mystique. It sure seems like a no win situation. Can it survive on 4-6 races a season?

They’re already making subtle changes to the place this morning. They brought the barriers in a good ways in turn 4. If the drivers say that 3-4 bridge needs widened, and they will, it’ll happen.

The place doesn’t need to race more than 3 times a year.

I just like that the racing last night proved everyone wrong (myself included).

side note: Chris Stepan announcing the show is the cherry on top. Dude is so underrated and one of the very best in the business imo.
