National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Announces Induction Class for 2025
Walton, Kentucky (October 19, 2024) – National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Vice President James Essex formally announced the 2025 Induction Class on Saturday at the Dirt Track World Championship. The class includes five drivers from all over the United States – including a first time Oklahoman along with three contributors to the sport will scribe their names into history as members of the 25th induction class during a ceremony at the Hall of Fame building planned for the Saturday of the North-South 100 weekend at Florence Speedway in August of 2025.
The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame is comprised of drivers and other contributors to the sport who have been the cornerstone of building Dirt Late Model racing into the prominence it enjoys today. Each year more than 80 racing industry voters from all around the United States cast their votes on ballots which are built from nominations from the Nomination Committee as well as the public at large. To date more than 140 drivers and nearly 70 contributors to the sport, along with many special award winners have been enshrined in the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame.
Among the drivers to be inducted for 2025, all but one has previously retired from active competition. The drivers to be honored include: The late C. L. Pritchett from Georgia; Minnesota’s Lance Matthees; Kyle Berck of Nebraska; Iowan Fred Horn; and the NDLMHoF’s first inductee from Colorado Kelly Boen. Contributor to the sport honorees are The Izzo Family of Illinois who have promoted tracks and events throughout the Midwest; Tennessee’s Roby Helm who served as the voice of the Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series among other PR and announcing positions; and Don Schoenfeld of Arkansas who founded Schoenfeld Headers which is the highest volume producer of racing headers in the US.
Several additional awards were announced as well including Lifetime Achievement Inductions for racing promoter and advocate Tom Deery along with Series promoter and official Kelley Carlton. And for just the 5th time in history the Baltes-Memmer Advancement of the Sport induction will bestowed upon promoter extraordinaire Carl Short.
The NDLMHoF is a 501c3 non-profit organization which is maintained and operates solely on donations and fund-raising efforts. The HoF annually hosts a large memorabilia auction in conjunction with the induction event which is on the same weekend as Florence's North-South 100. The NDLMHoF also handles the 50/50 ticket sales at the Gateway Dirt Nationals.
