That's the truth. Spent some time growing up in NE Ohio fighting the hillbillies that came out of the coal mines to work in our area steel mills. Learned early that if you got in it with one that you'd probably have to dance with half of his family members sooner or later. By the way, where was Tyler during all the commotion? Same place Kevin Harvick used to be? Also agree with MBR about blowing all day watching fence repairs and track work for what was, for me, a broken up broadcast. Baked two pies, split and stacked two cords of firewood and went rat hunting in the barn with the cat and didn't miss much when I tuned back in.

Maybe if they did something about the fence reaching out and grabbing cars it wouldn't be so bad. Like wider and higher concrete barriers or a fence that was concave. Putting banners right where a car can grab them is not a great idea either regardless of their "it keeps the dirt in " argument.

It is basically dirt meets Bowman Gray. Not the best racing but can be pretty entertaining. I enjoy it every year but of course I go into it expecting more of an entertaining value vs great racing value. The driver intros alone have morphed into their own little show that is fun to watch. I agree the amount of time spent fixing the fence got a bit ridiculous but I think they will learn from that this year and come up with a better design or process in the future.

Crown Jewel events are one of those things that you cannot really define but you know it when you see and/or experience it. I would say that if the event continues to grow at the pace it is growing at that it could easily become one in my book in the future. Heck, Brandon Sheppard even ranked the joint up there with Eldora.

How'd you and the cat do?

Two for me and my old girl only got one. In fairness though I use a pellet gun and she's climbing around in the rafters at about 12 years old and she got the biggest one of the day. But she didn't get any cherry pie.

I would like to see the driver intros maybe just cut into the 6 guys that are locked in because they are the only ones that have time to do something cool... 7-20th were pretty lackluster this year IMO

It's entertaining when they are actually racing between repairs and track prep. There's not really a lot of green laps for the first 6 hours of the day. It used to be the air pollution, now it's the fence.

They had to know by adding banking the cars were going to ramp right through that fence. Just adds to the show. Seems they had plenty of fencing and hardware on hand to handle the situation, knowing what they've created, they'd need it.
