I am just curious what these 'sponsors' are actually spending their money on. Are the writing actual checks or in Hoker's case does he 'own' the hauler or other assets like an engine? Or does the teams he sponsors have his fuel cards? That would be a good deep dive for Flo or Dirttraker.
Many of these sponsors offer nothing for the average race fan. I do not need Hoker's services nor does my house need Low Voltage Solutions enterprise wiring. While I am glad they want to support the sport we love it does beg the question, why are not more sponsors that the average race fan can relate to? Just like Case Construction, I never understood it. Joe Racer is not needing a bulldozer.

1. Sponsorship comes in all the forms you mentioned. Some write a check, some provide a car, an engine, a hauler, tires, fuel, fuel cards for the hauler. Flo or Dirttraker aren't going to get the answer because I am sure it varies by the team he sponsors (meaning it isn't equal between teams).Originally posted by dirty-white-boy View PostI am just curious what these 'sponsors' are actually spending their money on. 2. The businesses that provide services for everyday joes are probably 1) Small businesses that don't have the budget to sponsor a team at the level National teams require and/or 2) They aren't into racing and don't view those advertising dollars as helpful in generating new business.

I seriously doubt the Pierces (or any other racer) had enough of someone else’s big money. LoLOriginally posted by smooth32 View PostMaybe they were tired of Hoker and Mama Pierce had enough and let him know?? Hoker posted his trash for everyone to see, sounds like he's butt hurt. Nothing out of the Pierce camp. Maybe it’s good riddance!

This is true but I'll give you an example using the company I work for that may make some sense.Originally posted by dirty-white-boy View PostMany of these sponsors offer nothing for the average race fan.
We offer engineering/machining/coating support to the heavy stamping automotive industry. Obviously not something a typical race ran would need but we find that many of those fans work for and source jobs for companies the need our service. You would be surprised how many jobs I've been awarded and long term relationships forged over the fact our company was seen on a car at the local track on a Saturday night. This is a cut-throat business and having that upper hand compared to our competitors can make a big difference.

The kind of sponsors you are thinking of are still fairly prevalent on the local scene. Joe's Bar & Grill sponsors his buddy's street stock & actually can drive business to his establishment.Originally posted by dirty-white-boy View PostI am just curious what these 'sponsors' are actually spending their money on. I know I've visited more than 1 food establishment simply cause they sponsor the race track. Of course those don't extend to the national level. Although I think the Whistle Stop south of Eldora does a bang up business on race weekends I'm sure in part because they advertise at the track.

Is the said sponsor paying more than Hoker and requesting Hoker's spot on the car? Or is it a company Hoker doesn't want to be associated with? As I mentioned before, Hoker sponsors Simpson and he has several trucking company sponsors.Originally posted by smooth32 View Post
It appears Hoker was mad that Pierce got another Trucking sponsor. If he cared what Hoker thought he wouldn't have done that.

It appears Bobby needs all the money he can get, just like any other racer, so I’m sure he needs both of those sponsors. Hoker obviously doesn’t have a problem with other trucking sponsors. He does obviously have a problem with Bobby’s mother.Originally posted by smooth32 View Post

True on that but I guess I meant bigger companies ...corporations like Napa, NOS (they are on multiple sprint cars and the series sponsor, why dont they sponsor both series?). Its nice to see Kubota involved now as well.
Whistle Stop does do a great job, but its much easier to have a business like that close to a track that every race has 1000s of basically tourists in the area

I visited St. Henry’s Nite Club just because of the advertising they do at Eldora. Otherwise, I never would have even known about the place.Originally posted by chathamracefan View Post
