I see Kyle Strickler will be at Vado as well although not sure if he’s only running his Mod or has a LM ride lined up.

I will never try to understand how racers justify going to what race, but for the travel involved for most, the purse kinda stinks. Start money across the board is weekly start money for mods and b-mods.

I think for a lot, it's getting away from the cold and hopefully catch some warmer weather. With the days off between races, their is time to explore.

Winter vacation racing for support classes has never been about making money for most. Payouts for Mods are similar at Volusia and they get 100+ each Feb. Same with Duel in the Desert in Vegas. They all know what the payouts are and they’ll still probably have 40-50 A Mods and 50+ X-Mods. Vacations cost money.

Surprised but happy to see Richard Papenhausen there with his LM. He's been one of the top guys in both LM & Mods for nearly 40 years up here in NorCal. Lates have been dead in our area for years with very few shows at all on the West Coast. Richard has run a very limited schedule the last few years but still wins. Wish I was there but Vado is as cold as it is here and my old bones said no. Go get 'em Richard.

My son just walked in and told me a couple of other NorCal guys, Ryan DeForestt and his engine builder dad Shawn, are also down there with both their LM & Modified. Some long awaited engine parts just showed up for our 2 Super Stocks so guess I'll fire up the wood stove in the shop and spend the weekend out there. Nothing like cold iron on a January day. LOL
