Clinton Boyles DQ over Simple Green Cleaner.

After a lab test showed a missed bench mark from Blue Ash Labs Clinton Boyles was dq'd for using Simple Green to siphon or groove his tires. Clinton said he used it to wash his tires before he did the tire work and then wrapped them. The tires were 18 months old he said.

A year and a half old tire needs all the help it can get. Just sayin…

They had a very interesting talk about how tire prep and rubbered up tracks go hand in hand.

Chances are it is because the tire was old or raced. They never take that into account.

That doesn't add compounds that don't belong.

Simple green IS a solvent. I’ve been told you can actually soften tires a little with it. I believe some guys intentionally use it.

Boyles is either very stupid or a good liar because social media is praising him for being “transparent”, which is easy to do when you’re caught. I ground my last Hoosier Emod tire in 2010 and even back then I knew to never use Simple Green on a tire. It’s a chemical.

Simple green is a water base product and not solvent base.

Simple green does a number on tires. Not sure about now, but go kart guys used it religiously as part of their tire baby sitting program.

We use to wash all our stuff with simple green, the car the tires, everything, but that was 20 years ago before everything got stupid. I'll always prefer open tires, groove sip as much as you want over specified compounds. Never seen tire rules work 100%, someone always finds a way to get by for a while and the honest people pay the price.
