From what I could see on Flo/DoD, Volusia stands were practically empty. Seems a little foreboding. Was it just the weather? I would have thought there would be a better turnout for speedweeks.

Stand alone show that really isn't part of "Speedweeks." This is the result of the new Speedweeks schedule, where all the shows don't bleed into eachother, there are more off days without East Bay. I gotta believe there are alot of people who will either be skipping Speedweeks all together now, or waiting until the schedule is closer until the UMP/WoO Volusia races at the end. It's a weird schedule now.

IMSA fans drink Grande Caramel Nonfat Lattes; dirt late model fans drink Busch Light Lattes. There is very little intersection on the Venn diagram.

Yes I think the whole Speedweeks schedule needs reworked. I feel there is a huge void without Eastbay. The proximity to the beach and lots of things to do made Eastbay an easy choice for a winter racing getaway. I like Volusia and it races like a smaller track, but I have dealt with some crappy weather as well. One year I stayed in Orlando and split my time between Eastbay and Volusia. One night at Volusia I had my winter coat on and the next we got fogged out and then at Eastbay I'm sitting there in my t-shirt. I'm going to miss those days, especially the old days with the smoker there and the ribs and pulled pork and Speedo the Clown and the stunt show in between! We need something to replace those days!
