Did switching to the LOLM tour kill Rocket?

I’m pulling for them but they are gonna have to make some changes to the car and spring smashing philosophies. I would have never believed a few years ago that they’d go winless during speedweeks. Owners are getting older and customers are leaving, they’re basically in the same position Mastersbilt was 10 years ago. Look how that worked out.

I still think they should have given McCreadie more time. Sure he's not winning 30 races a year but he was always a threat for the points title.

I think putting them in the same category as mastersbilt is a little excessive. At its peak masters was never as big as rocket but that's neither hear nor their. Are they a little behind sure but out to lunch no. Most of the teams dominating right now have been together for quite some time. For every Longhorn dominating theirs 2 that Cant get out their own way. Not to pick on anyone but look at marlar. But the national seen does not paint the big picture. They still run very well on the regional level and their only a little off on the national level

Timmy doesn't fit well w the rockets. Idk why he went that route. Ik his last yr in a longhorn was kind of stalled out but I think it would of come back around. Then moving to boom Briggs w rocket support well it didn't work in the rocket house car it sure not going to in a rocket support car. GL to them

I really think he would if he was given the right amount of time with a good team. How could a guy in his 50s not give better set up instructions than kids in their 20s? How could Mark Richards not notice Tim didn't run the "cushion pounding, throw it in the corner regardless of who else is there" style and see that maybe HE needed to learn something new to accomodate a different kind of driver? It just seemed like they were too impatient or never took him seriously as a house car driver.

Agreed. The Mastersbilt analogy though, may not be far off. I've seen many come and go since 86'. GRT comes to mind... Rayburn... Mastersbilt... was in the thick of it and then poof. Mark is getting older too and Josh has his own life several states away. I dunno what the fix is.

I don't think Timmy took being the house car driver seriously enough. This isn't the bwrc house car where barry supplies one car Sombody else pays the bills and you need to conserve your equipment. This is the rocket house car and the guy with the check book tells you to win the race at any cost. If that happens to be getting up on the boards and burning it down that night. That's what the man wants. They don't write on the check or in the history books (only one because their was a cushion) you can work on driving through the middle all you want but if theirs a lip and you need to be their then you need to be their. I like tim alot but he's always talking about how he can still do it like he once did but then doesn't when that's what's nessecary. Their will always be a place in this sport for guys like Dennis erb and tanner english but it will never be in the rocket house car. I'm sure tim has been very valuable in the development of the new car and will continue to be he's just not the right fit for the blue 1. Tim is now in his third ride in 2 years and still looks the same night in and night out. I hear him talk alot in interviews about what he wants out of his racecar. Ive had alot of guys tell me they were uncomfortable in the car over the years when we found something new. The good ones adapted others chased a feel that may never be their again.

i wouldnt put all of it on someone else. Alberson, RTJ, troutman, terbo even dotson have all steadily progressed, tanner has pretty much had the same results since driving weavers stuff, good regionally but missing something nationally

I've seen McCreadie make some pretty bold moves in the Briggs car that I haven't seen out of him in years. I wouldn't quite give up on that project yet.
