Work being done at Westminster Speedway in South Carolina for Possible reopening.
Wildest night of racing I ever had was at Westminster. Was back around 2003-2005, they had a new promoter and they made it a flat 5$ for everyone to get in, stands, pits, trackside, the whole place. Now I'm not kidding there were so many people that the stands were totally full and we were standing at the fence coming off turn 4 and it was 6-7 rows deep, shoulder to shoulder. You could not move. Racers came from all over and were unloading cars up on the road outside the track for 1/2 mile. It was amazing, but.... The good times were interrupted, somebody, possibly a neighbor called the law and the fire department came and before the night could be completed they determined we were in violation of the fire code and shut the night down, everybody was made to leave. First and only time I ever was thrown out of a race track, but it was electric while it lasted.
