Agreed, at the Nippy he was very fast early and in the heats, but that was when you could just get up on the wheel and "Send It!". Its difficult to maintain that intensity for whole race and not make mistakes that kill your run. Bloomquist built his career on being good at the end, the XR1... still seems to need the "Hair on fire" approach works well early and then fades. Back during my time with Carrera, the Rockets(pre-XR1) had the reputation to have insane forward traction, I wonder if that still may be true, something in the setups or design lends itself to being better at forward drive. I say this as I noticed BShepp whenever he slowed down and tried to run off bottom he'd shove the nose on exit. I live in Georgia and back in the day when Rockets were becoming the hot ticket they still had trouble penetrating our area and being successful against what was then mostly GRT and Barry Wright. Mastersbilt had similar struggles down here. I mention that only to point out different brands have different tendencies and traits and that maybe something in the Rocket dna tends more to "going forward" than balance... Food for thought.

Looks to me like LH either get faster or are able to maintain the same pace as the track changes. Rockets are fast on a hooked up track and when it goes away, so do they.

I'n my experience the Rocket doesn't steer as well. So, it's harder to keep it balanced. A car that turns with the front end is easier to keep neutral.

Just heard on Justin Fiedler's daily Dirttrackr podcast that two longtime Rocket supporters, Boom Briggs and Brent Larson are switching to Longhorns. I can understand Larson making the switch but am shocked about Boom getting a LH for McCreadie. He has been a staunch supporter of Rockets for many years, so for him to adhere to McCreadie's wishes says a lot. .

The reason so many are still heading to Longhorn is to get rid of the 'excuse'. End of the day, you have driver, engine, chassis, and crew. When you look at it, pretty easy to eliminate two of the four...

There was no mention of Boom switching. Amazing that some teams are fielding two different chassis now. Boom, Koehler, Bruening. I guess there's no swapping notes with those guys anymore.

Boom and Chub both had longhorns after they both had the last design of the club 29 cars.
