    Very Cool!
You also sit right on top of the track there which is hard to find in IL. Plus it's a unique size, shape, dirt, and no wall configuration for Illinois. Bringing your own coolers in is also nice.

      Underrated:

      Crowley's Ridge Raceway
      Texarkana 67 Speedway
Tri-State Speedway, Pocola OK - track has gotten a lot better under current ownership, late model racing has improved but modifieds really shine there.
      Springfield Raceway

with I-55 under new ownership it has had some work done and will continue to improve. Josh Carroll has done great things with The Brownstown Bullring and i expect the same with I-55.

Brushcreek is easily the best surface in the area when it is prepped right. It recently just changed hands. We will see what the future lays ahead for that place.

The only knock on spoon is the concessions are 1. Not very good and 2. Poorly organized so the lines are stupid long. If u go there plan ot get something to eat on the way. The track is super cool tho. An “in the sticks” sort of vibe. Track races real good and is very unlike the other good Illinois tracks.

A few underrated tracks from my part of the world.

Mississippi Thunder (Fountain City, WI) - Continues to improve every single time I go back there and I'll be going this next weekend. Bringing in some really good shows this year and a really good weekly program.

141 Speedway (Francis Creek, WI) - They just had their second weekly program of the season and had 205 cars in five divisions (no late models either). The headliner division, the IMCA mods, had 45 cars. This is one of the strongest weekly programs in the country for good reason. Racey track, good prep, great food and a real tavern on the grounds plus they really know how to move things along. I love going there for IRA sprints or Dirt Kings late models specials. Solid program at 141. I recommend this place to everyone.

Red Cedar Speedway (Menominee, WI) - I've not yet had a disappointing visit. The season ending Punky Manor Challenge of Champions is a great event to attend.

                          Overrated.

Shawano Speedway (Shawano WI) - I wish I could say better things but sorry Shawano. The surface is tired and they have a fan drive started for new clay. Good luck with that project. The place needs much more, like a total rework to a 3/8 or 1/3 mile but they are hobbled by the local Ag Society/Fairgrounds people. The racing, is not. The locals who are loyal love their half mile, because it's fast. It's a fast car show because you almost never witness much in the way of passing. It is the closest track to my home and after a long absence I went last season because I was tired of so many rainouts. I was reminded why I stayed away. It is sad because they have really good people involved with running the show and they have some really nice attributes in the way of concessions and the grandstand facility. I hope they can turn it around.
Political correctness,...is the inability to speak the truth about the obvious.

Not exactly. Biggest issue is the setup. It takes forever to even get a soda or water at the big shows. Only 1 line. Usually stop in Havana on the way to the track.

Love the racing at Spoon! I agree that it is underrated. Although, I must say that I always fear the flagman falling out onto the track.

So glad I'll be there next Wednesday as part of my annual trek to Illinois Speedweek. Can't wait to start packing my bags!

The Goose Pit in Banner is a good place to stop for food. About 5 minutes north of the track although I realize you're probably coming from the south.
