So were the spins in the heat or the "A Main" that TV keeps referring to? The rule listed by Weatherman only mentions the 'A-Main" is there any rule for spins in heats? I havent seen the footage...

Devin's spins were in his heat and their is no rule for heat race spins.

Where I see it most often is at Eldora. There are guys self spin and wreck multiple times that definitely should not be out there.

Can anyone clarify, I was under the impression the spin rule was only in regards to solo spins. The first one, the front of Satterlee's door hooked the back of Devins door and turned him around. The 2nd one Devin got into turn 1 too hot and spun to avoid cleaning out whoever was on his outside...so were only talking about 1 solo incident?

No, if you spin, ie bring out a caution, regardless of cause, it counts. The question being argued is whether the rule used in the "A-main" should be used in the Heats and B-mains? According to TR, at least inferred by him, is that the 2 spin/caution rule is for "A-main" only and therefore we can assume it is allowable to spin as much as you like in the "Heats and B-mains". At least no one has posted a rule covering those and I don't care to look for one...

The spin rule is for single car incidents so I guess now you would be arguing what constitutes a single car incident. Have not seen video of the first one involving Satterlee to say one way or the other. I know some series take judgement totally out of the equation and say if there is any contact, then it is a multi car incident.

              9.8 Spin Outs
A.) Any driver that is involved in three (3) single car incidents during any A-Main event that is fifty (50) laps
or more in total distance, resulting in a caution, will be black flagged from that event.
B.) Any driver that is involved in two (2) single car incidents during any A-Main event that is less than fifty
              (50) laps in total distance, resulting in a caution, will be black flagged from that event.

It's pretty obvious that if a requested rule is not listed in the Lucas playbook, it doesn't exist as much as some would like it to be. Not to hard to figure out. If one refuses to read the rule book, I guess they can live in fantasy land.

Unless Satterlee spun also its still only a single car incident. Everyone agrees getting turned around by someone else and you getting penalized sucks, but them's the rules. I'd rather it be this way than rely on judgement calls, because people do have favorites and do show favoritism when allowed to. Reminds of when Bloomquist was leading the Topless 100 @ Batesville, they had a caution, but on the restart the guy behind Bloomquist fired early and turned him around essentially in turn 4, never even really getting going... Bloomquist was sent to tail because that was the rule... I personally think, in Bloomquist situation it shouldn't count as a start if you don't make it back to the flag stand/start line. As far as the Devin Moran situation, that's racing and I'm sure it wasn't intentional on Saterlee's part(I havent seen it) but if it were it will get dealt with one way or another.

The rule should only be for single car incidents. A driver should not have to go to the pits because he got caught up in someone else’s mess a couple times. The drivers that spin out by themselves and sit there are the problem. The Lucas rule is worded correctly.

However, it’s silly that they don’t have it for a 10 lap heat race if you can’t make 10 laps without spinning out twice one should definitely be in the pits.

One time I was racing and spun out twice. I drove off the track and my dad asked me what I was doing. I said if I can't drive any better than that I don't need to be out there.

One thing that has not been mentioned here and i don't know where or if it is actually in their rule book but it is often used as a creative way to not charge a particular driver with a caution. "Drivers door to the feild" i believe this is deemed a safety issue and the driver is not credited with the caution. In alot of those situations the car has not fully stopped and may have never actually stopped if the caution has not been thrown. I've seen lucas use this to avoid giving a driver their final caution of the night. Rules are rules but many of those rules are intended to prevent certain situations that were going on and not necessarily to kill a otherwise good driver night because of a little bad luck

Yeah no sense in staying out. Track was really slick and the car just wasn't tightened up enough. I was going to end up costing me and or maybe someone else money.
