    Penalty for Stopping on Track?

Should this be a rule? How many times has this happened? Front few cars get stretched out until the leader hits lapped traffic, then they tighten up and there's a dogfight for the lead and positions between the front runners only for the action to be stopped by a car stopping on the track to bring out the caution. once the caution comes out the car takes off into the pits to make an adjustment then comes back out. I would like to se a rule in place that if you stop on the track for any reason other than a flat tire or major damage you are retired from the race.

In most series, it is a rule. It's rarely enforced.

Lucas and woo races are terrible for this. Way too many cautions for professional racers.

It’s a rule most everywhere. I’ve seen it enforced once in my 35 years of going to races.

One way to fix this would be to do away with the guaranteed time in the work area. I personally hate that rule. If you have trouble, it's just kinda not your night. Fine if a guy throws on a new tire but don't give him the guaranteed time to do it.

Fewer guys would stop if they knew they wouldn't get 5 laps to work on the car.

And I agree with the above. The Lucas races are at times like watching paint dry with the caution every 2 laps & then guaranteed time on each one.

They could call it the Boom Briggs rule. He was doing it constantly to the point I felt like mailing a black flag to Lucas Oil cause they obviously don't have one.

He’s been doing it for years even before his national touring dreams. He was a terror on the ULMS for this stuff

Personally I've never seen him demonstrate any speed. He may be Chub's cousin, but it just seems like an expensive waste of time for him. Its one thing to do it because you love it, that's fine, but don't make a nuisance of yourself.

It'll be interesting what James Essex has to say when a non touring driver spins twice in a heat race. Will they be sent off of the track or will they continue to be able to race. I am sure I have seen a driver or two sent to the pits after causing 2 cautions during a heat race.

Membership has its privileges... Its a fact of life, its why I'm not a fan of that new series Larson was touting with an "owner buy-in" option, but supposedly no special treatment. Phhh! Right.

I’ve been to prolly 50 races he’s been a part of around my way. He’s won exactly one of those races, and he punted a young Gregg Satterlee to do it.

I don't think the rule applies to heat races.

The only footage I've ever seen of him winning anything at 11:11
