Surprised none of the MidWest guys mentioned Avila Speedway in Indiana. It was a neat track just outside Fort Wayne that ran twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Different classes for each night and some darned good racing. Also, in Fort Wayne, the 1/2 paved Baer Field, next to the airport. Was a good place to go on Fridays for LM if there was no dirt stuff going on.

Yes, went to Potomac a few weeks ago and an old friend of mine showed up with the new promotor. They are still getting there ducks in a row but it does appear it is going to happen. Tried to talk him in to making it a real racetrack but he didn't think the city would let him bring the dirt in....

My mistake...I was remembering I stayed that night in Effingham but track was in Mt Vernon. Closed in 2010...I went to a SN race there in 2008.

Never went there but remember when Mt Vernon had a track. They had that fatal crash into the crowd there & the place didn't last long after that. Think it was gone & then came back for a short lived rebirth before it closed for good.
