West Virginia Motor Speedway, a premier venue of dirt track racing in West Virginia, proudly welcomes a new owner. Goldvein, VA's, Mike & Becky Hurley have finalized plans to purchase the track and are set to guide the Speedway into an exciting new era.
Mike Hurley, a successful entrepreneur and lifelong dirt track racing enthusiast, brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role. As founder of the largest privately owned pest and wildlife control company in the nation, Hurley built a booming business that operated in 14 states from the ground up, a testament to his leadership and vision.
“My heart has always been in dirt track racing,” said Hurley. “This is more than just a business opportunity. It's a way to give back to the sport I love and the fans who make it all possible. We’re ready to breathe new life into West Virginia Motor Speedway and make it a premier destination for racing in the country.”
Hurley’s passion for the sport is evident through his ongoing partnerships with standout drivers Kyle Hardy and Gregory Carrico, both of whom exemplify the competitive spirit and excitement that Hurley aims to bring to every event. His goal is to enhance the fan experience, support local and regional drivers, modernize the facility, and build a new short track for teams and fans.
Both natives of West Virginia, the husband and wife team plan a series of upgrades to West Virginia Motor Speedway. The biggest will be a new 3/8 mile red clay dirt track. In addition, added fan amenities, increased lighting, modernizing the facility, and a slate of high-profile events designed to grow attendance and engagement. These enhancements are geared toward driving a next-level experience for both fans and drivers alike well into the future.
Mike resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with his wife Becky Hurley, and continues to invest in both his business ventures and the sport of dirt track racing with equal enthusiasm. He plans to be active at the speedway while working with recent promoter, Cody Watson to assist in a smooth transition and bring WVMS into the future.

They tried to do this back around the shutdown but the locals freaked out about making the track smaller (usable tho) so they gave up. Have to remember who you dealing with. Us old hillbillies are great at voting against our best interests. WE HAVE ENOUGH 3/8 MILE TRACKS is what they said. OK. How about no track? YES...Oh wait?

But the same people that complained still want it back when it was a half-mile and want all the cars (even with today's big haulers) parked in the infield. Need to raze the whole place. Start completely over. Still no way to fix the parking issues just like at Pennsboro. Outlaw stacker trailers I guess. You bring ONE car on an open trailer with a 4 door dually. Need anything else? Send somebody down the road to get it.

What are the other issues? Track size has always been the issue, at least since the sport started getting more expensive than it should be.

A lack of parking. A weird, kinda hard to get to location, the piss poor state of the economy in general. I wish em luck, but even the best laid plans are hard to execute.

Hm idk. I can think of a lot of other places that are a lot harder to get to than WVMS especially here in wv. I’ll give you the piss poor state reason though.

Mike Hurley didn't build a business that operates in 14 states because he has no business acumen or doesn't know how to build a successful teams. I'm sure those teams can conquer access and parking issues and more! Maybe they can model the new 3/8 mile after Spoon River!

Regardless, I sincerely hope he can make a revamped WVMS a winner and he has my support. I'm looking forward to reserving a room in Mineral Wells and hopefully seeing a national touring series race there!

Unfortunately, much like the board stretcher I bought from Temu, can't make a property bigger unless you buy adjoining property. Wasn't there an issue with doing just that? Neighboring property owner wasn't willing to deal or was determined to get lottery money for their slice? I may be smoking crack.
