Was there a race at Wheatland or did I miss something? All I saw was commercial breaks, fluff and track prep. Oh skimpy attendance too. Not the Wheatland that I'm familiar with

At the halfway point this is the saddest race I've watched. For crying out loud just start 20 cars. Pathetic for a series that claims to be #1

thought it was a great race, track didn't rubber up. 1 of the best Show Me 100s ever imo. pierce won over 49,71. rain falling at track 15 minutes after A finishes. new track prep equipment definitely helped. Wheatland is back!

While I missed the Saturday night race, (watched the Mars race @Fals), the Thursday and Friday editions fan wise were pretty sad. I've seen more fans at a hell tour weekday race at Spoon River than what they had for the Show Me. Sort of strange.

you have to take into consideration the location of Wheatland. Kinda in the middle of nowhere in Mizzou. I think the population in around 300-325 plus/minus. When we went it was like 25 miles from the motel to the track. Just not enough locals in the area to fill it up. For people who travel- it’s not an easy travel route from most places.
The thing about Wheatland: It’s Forest Lucas’s Show Palace - and they try to Show it off the best they can.

The second 50 laps turned out to be good after the slower cars got their $hit together and the leaders could run more than 5 laps between cautions. There's not a race in the world that needs to start more than 20-22 cars, IMO.

I never did understand why they built that track there a lot of places that would been a better fit maybe they just wanted it close to west plains which wasn't a much better fit we went there several times

I figure the weather and the high price to get in deterred a lot of people from attending. My family and I made a Branson vacation out of the weekend so it wasn't a wasted trip if it rained.

The race was really good once they were able to get laps in. As wet as it was I expected a rough Baja racetrack but it looked really smooth. I just hate that it took almost an hour between the last chance and the feature. The "Dog-&-Pony-Show-Me 100".

I'm definitely a Pierce hater but he ran a great race, didn't wreck anybody, and earned the win.

forrest lucas didnt build the track, he bought later when the original owner got sick, closed it to remodel it, then reopened it as LOS. its a fantastic facility. Lucas also owns alot of cattle around the area thru Lucas Cattle Company. There are many great lakes nearby to camp at. springfield is about a hour away and offers alot as well. If you've never been to wheatland you need to go once at least, especially since they got all the new track prep equipment. The pits stands are nicer than most tracks and everything in the pits is on concrete. The town has 2 gas stations(Caseys & a Sinclair). there is a track bar you can drink at all night long just past the flagstand and they even have a go cart track There is also a huge campground on site and another that butts right up to the parking lot.

I wouldn't mind going just for the fact it's a good facility with a good series visiting and isn't crowded.

Wasn't crowed this year. Last time I went it was miserable. Way overcrowded and most of the people there were drunk on their arse. Not just slurring their speech drunk. I like a few wobbly pops but that was out of hand, Wasn't a good time.

Yeah I'm all for people drinking and having a good time. It's just not for me.. I would like to go one of these days though because the facility looks awesome..

I have been camping at Wheatland since the switch. There is really no other way to do it without a 45 minute drive back and forth to hotels each night. Thursday and Friday nights have always had a lower attendance due to where people would have to drive from. Saturdays however have always been standing room but in this case all we heard at the track was rain rain rain and it did rain but at the right times to get all the races in. The new track prep seems to be working because all the features went from running high or low to find the fastest way around. The facility is great, we rent golf carts from the track to get back and forth from the rv park. The town is great as they allow us to us the streets to get around. The one gas station by the track is a full grocery/hardware/about anything you need so that makes it convenient. I don't really mind it being that far out because once you are there you know you are not going anywhere so you can just have a good time. Also there is a lot of antique/flea market like stores to shop at during the day if that's your thing

LOS sounds a lot like another similar facility in eastern Virginia.
