Saw at the beginnign of the season where he was getting a couple of new Captial cars but he just won his first race since Sep of last year in a "nearly new" Rocket. I wonder where the short fall is with Captial on the national level? Is it support, lack of cars on the track for info? They seem to do pretty well in the Limited and Crate divisions but nobody has really had a lot of success on the national level with them. Is this a permanent switch for him or just an experiment? Has he been in Longhorn yet? I don't remember.

He ran the Capital at maybe five races and went back to the Rockets.

They don't have the volume of cars out there to get the info needed to be really competitive. I find it hard to believe there is a whole lot of difference in a pile of tubing welded together unless they don't follow a process. We start here, then move here, then here, consistently welding them in same order. If they all are done differently, they gonna be/feel different. The different metal alloys manufacturers use will affect the long term chassis feel NOT say the first half-dozen races. Stiffer tubing will either get stiffer/better/worse or ???Originally posted by hardracer32 View PostSaw at the beginnign of the season where he was getting a couple of new Captial cars but he just won his first race since Sep of last year in a "nearly new" Rocket. I have to say it. HTF just got a shock dyno couple days ago. Nobody in that family has any idea what to do with it. Taylon Center has been helping them and will be the one using/teaching them how to use it. Unfortunately Joseph is the only one I'd trust to use it or believe he might learn to use it. But he already is carrying the whole team on his back. Jonathan comes across as fairly worthless on the mechanical side of things. He readily admits he doesn't know what's going on or how things work. From what I've seen, he's not joking or being humble. HTF is supposed to be the Capital test vehicle of sorts. So far haven't gotten much results. The new tire has been a debacle for them. Bunch of RR flats.
So...if you go Capital, while they have a setup sheet, it's not based on last seasons hero that won 30 races. You are likely on your own for the most part. At some point maybe HTF will figure it out. I don't have a ton of confidence anymore. Team has been scrolling thru personale lately and certainly not getting better. Taylon has done about all he can.
Consistent push across middle and not enough bite off. Every week. I mentioned while back that RTJ doesn't steer around the corner as much as say MacDowell/Erbe Jr, he drives his car like a winged sprint car. Throw it in set far enough to nearly spin out and catch it with forward bite. Similar to how the Rocket1 has always been driven. He doesn't' do the "steering across center" cause the car is waaay sideways or at least pointed off at mid point of turns. It doesn't get the opportunity to push. So is JJ/HTF/Capitals cornering issue setup/chassis or the driver? Starting to believe it's more of a driver issue than I thought.
Hope some of this makes sense and sorry for mentioning the unmentionables around here. Unfortunately they ARE part of this discussion. I say unfortunately for those that hate them.Last edited by KTMLew; 05-26-2025, 09:01 AM.

Pretty sure he ran that Capital car all January and February, more than five races. Looking back on his Facebook posts, it looks like he made the switch back to Rocket in March. Thankfully the Rocket switch is paying off.Originally posted by Josh Bayko View PostHe ran the Capital at maybe five races and went back to the Rockets.

I don't think he ran the Capitals after leaving Florida, then he's struggled along in the XR1 ever since. I guess the blind squirrel analogy fits here since just this past weekend he was reporting only some top 10's...Originally posted by hardracer32 View PostSaw at the beginnign of the season where he was getting a couple of new Captial cars but he just won his first race since Sep of last year in a "nearly new" Rocket. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 24, 2025 Dennis Erb, Jr. Claims Pair of Top Tens Against Outlaws; MARS Double-Dip Next (CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) A hectic week of racing saw Dennis Erb, Jr. compete in the states of Iowa, Ohio, and Pennsylvania from May 13-18. Action kicked off on Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway in
I'm not knocking Dennis, but speed seems to still be eluding him, at least any consistent speed. He was reportedly back in his Rockets on March, 2. I like Dennis, respect what he's done immensley, but he seems to be struggling to find a good fit, maybe one of Rusty Schlenk's cars would better suit him since its a Rayburn derivative and D Erb ran well in Rayburns. Just a thought.Last edited by Henry Every; 05-28-2025, 10:12 AM."In the Republic of Mediocrity, Genius is Dangerous." - Robert Green Ingersoll

He was a rejuvenated racer last night at the Spoon. Basically ran the top for the whole feature and made very few slip ups. Watching Dennis his whole career, it was a piece of beauty.Originally posted by 84wedge View Post
